FLUID GREASE / GREASE

Low-Viscous fluid greases, greases - also with solid particles

Fluid greases and low-viscous greases are lubricants that are used in various industries and applications.
They can contain solid particles that extend their performance and application potential. They are ideal for automatic centralized lubrication systems, ensuring continuous and consistent lubrication, which increases machine life and extends maintenance intervals.

These lubricants are available in NLGI grades from 000 to 6, where softer greases are suitable for low temperatures and harder greases for high loads.

Application areas - Use of “GREASE”

Grease lubrication / grease metering

Grease lubrication is a widely used method of reducing friction and wear in machine components, particularly in bearings and joints. The advantage of using grease is that it stays in place and ensures constant lubrication even under high loads and extreme conditions. In addition, grease protects the lubricated parts from corrosion and contamination by forming a protective barrier.

Attention should be paid when additives with solid particles are contained. When designing a system, it is recommended to pre-test the medium that will be used.

Consistency classes / conveyability of lubricants

Penetration (consistency) is one of the most important indicators of the conveyability of lubricants. The higher the penetration, NLGI class*, the stiffer the medium.
NLGI class 000 is one of the softest lubricants, it is also known as fluid grease.

Some lubricant manufacturers specify the apparent dynamic viscosity. If the viscosity is above 5,000 Pa.s = N*s/mm², pumping with conventional grease guns becomes more difficult.
The ambient temperature and the length and diameter of the pipes and hoses are equally important for conveyability.

If the medium contains solid particles, special points need to be kept in mind.

* NLGI class = lubricant classification, defined by the National Lubricating Grease Institute.

NLGI classes at a glance:

000 - fluent
  00 - slightly fluent
    0 - semi-liquid
    1 - very soft
    2 - soft
    3 - medium firm
    4 - firm
    5 - very firm
    6 - rigid

Used technology

Grease pumps / barrel presses

Lubricants (including silicone greases) up to NLGI class 3 can be efficiently conveyed with compressed air grease pumps.

Metering devices

Volumetric dosing valves are made up of an adjustable dosing chamber for the medium and an integrated pneumatic cylinder for control. A simple 5/2-way valve must be provided for control.

Lubrication point lines

When selecting the line material, the operating temperatures, operating pressures, external influences and, if applicable, the installation options (e.g. on the machine) must be taken into account. All lines should be kept as short as possible.
